The deadline is fast approaching for entrepreneurs to answer Walmart’s Open Call for new domestic products.

Applications close on Friday, April 8, for the sourcing event, through which Walmart aims to attract shelf-ready products made, grown or assembled in the US. Space is limited, and products will be considered in the order they are received, the retailer said in a news release.

Now in its ninth year, Open Call is intended for businesses looking to land a spot on Walmart shelves, both in-store and on Walmart.com. Selection for the event could result in a range of deal sizes to supply products to the retailer, from several local stores to hundreds of locations. According to Walmart, some of the sought-after product categories include camping and outdoors, stationery, toys, household furniture and baby care products.

“Supporting American products and American jobs has always been a priority at Walmart and has a tremendous positive impact for suppliers, entrepreneurs, sellers and local communities,” Laura Phillips, Senior Vice President of Global Sourcing & U.S. Manufacturing at Walmart, said in a statement. “With all the tools available this year, we’re hoping we can foster growth for many more businesses and Walmart Marketplace sellers that already work with us, along with those that are just getting started.”

The sourcing event is set to be held on June 28-29, and selected participants can choose to attend virtually or in-person. Brands will receive the opportunity to pitch to leaders from Walmart or Sam’s Club during a one-one, 30-minute meeting. The event also includes breakout sessions to provide insights to suppliers and sellers with leaders from across Walmart, and special guests.

Walmart is taking steps to center its ecommerce marketplace with this year’s event. It provided early access to the Open Call application for its marketplace sellers. This resulted in more than 2,000 companies registering more than 6,000 items, the company said.

The company also extended an intro offer it made available earlier this year to sellers who join Walmart Fulfillment Services. For sellers who sign up and inbound at least one item by June 30, the company is offering free storage and 10% off fulfillment for the first 90 days.
